Taking Runway Fashion to the Streets
The recent Toronto Fashion Week brings an end to this year's fashion season. Regardless if the runway was in New York, London, Paris or Toronto, there have been great looks with lots of leather - in tops and bottoms, oversized coats, and color statements in emerald green and the black and white combination.
Toronto fashion week in particular offered a strong presence of mixed floral and furs, bold necklaces and of course we can't forget mad hatters!
These fashion statements look fabulous on the runway, but can we translate them into real every day wear? You bet!
The primary fall wardrobe staples you need to build your runway look are:
- -Leather leggings
- -Colored coat or jacket
- -Ankle booties
- -Rocking accessories
Leather leggings spark any outfit with their automatic cool effect. Leggings are great for any body type when paired with the proper top such as a longer tunic or sweater to conceal problem areas.
Colored jackets or coats provide an instant chic factor during the fall. Consider styles with fur or leather trim for extra flair.
The look doesn't stop with the clothes. Many runway looks this fall were complemented with ankle booties. These great boots are so versatile and look great with skirts, tights, and leather leggings.
Finish it all off with rocking accessories. Oversized totes, super-cute hats and chunky necklaces offer a chance to introduce a pop of color like cobalt blue. This beautiful blue is being seen everywhere and adds an extra touch of glamour to your wardrobe.
Combine these primary fall wardrobe staples and you will be sporting the runway looks from Toronto's Fashion Week in your own true fashionista style!
Fashion Tip: Get fashion first-aid with the peplum! It can help define your waist, add curves, or camouflage that tummy area. But remember not all peplums work equally. Where it is placed on a dress, shirt, or skirt can determine just how good you look.
